Barbell Battalion: Turning an Idea Into Something Real

June 21, 2026

Today marks an important milestone for us: Barbell Battalion officially became a registered in New York State.

Although filing the paperwork may seem like a small administrative step, it represents something much greater to our family. Barbell Battalion is no longer simply an idea discussed at home. It is now a real business—and the beginning of a long-term commitment to building something meaningful for our community.

Who We Are

Barbell Battalion was founded by a husband-and-wife team with a shared passion for strength training (the sport of powerlifting), personal growth, and helping others become stronger and more confident.

Wife is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer with experience helping people improve their general fitness, weight loss, and developing their strength. She will serve as the public-facing heart of Barbell Battalion, focusing on our members, trainers, employees, community relationships, and the overall experience people have when they enter our facility.

Husband is a veteran who spent more than a decade of their early life serving our country. His experience in leadership, training, operations, and program management will help guide the financial, operational, and administrative sides of the business.

Together, we bring different strengths to the table, but we share the same goal: to create a training facility that people are proud to call their gym.

What We Want to Build

Our vision is to create more than a traditional fitness center.

Barbell Battalion will be a 24-hour training facility designed to serve serious strength athletes, beginners, working professionals, veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, shift workers, and anyone looking for a supportive place to improve themselves.

We plan to offer dedicated areas for powerlifting, general strength training, cardio, functional training, turf work, personal training, and recovery. We also intend to create a separate women-only strength area for women who would feel more comfortable training in a private space without unwanted attention or intimidation.

The facility will be designed around convenience as well as performance. Specific features will help members fit training into their lives before work, after a shift, or whenever their schedules allow.

We want our members to feel that the facility was built with their real lives in mind.

A Home for Strength Athletes

Powerlifting and strength training will be central parts of our identity.

We want to provide quality racks, platforms, calibrated equipment, specialty training areas, and the space needed for athletes to train seriously and safely. Our long-term vision also includes hosting powerlifting competitions, educational events, seminars, and opportunities for athletes to connect with one another.

At the same time, someone should not need to be a competitive powerlifter to belong at Barbell Battalion. Beginners will be just as welcome as experienced athletes. Strength looks different for everyone, and every person deserves an environment where they can learn, make progress, and feel supported.

Supporting Trainers and the Community

Barbell Battalion will also be designed to support personal trainers and coaches.

We plan to offer options that allow independent trainers to use the facility with their clients while maintaining their own businesses and professional relationships. We want trainers to feel valued as partners in our community rather than treated as an afterthought.

Our goal is to create a facility where members, trainers, local businesses, and community organizations can grow together. We hope to develop partnerships, support community events, provide opportunities for veterans and local families, and create an environment where people genuinely look out for one another.

Why “Barbell Battalion”?

The name Barbell Battalion represents teamwork, discipline, resilience, and the understanding that difficult things are easier when people face them together.

Our motto, “Bend, Don’t Break,” reflects the mindset we want the business to embody. Life creates pressure. Training creates pressure. Building a business creates pressure. Strength is not about never struggling—it is about adapting, continuing forward, and refusing to let difficult moments define the outcome.

The Beginning of a Long Journey

We know that opening a facility of this size and scope will take time. There will be research to complete, funding to secure, equipment to select, a location to find, and countless decisions to make along the way.

We are not rushing the process. We want to build Barbell Battalion correctly, responsibly, and with a foundation that will support the business for many years.

That is why community input will remain an important part of our planning. We want to hear from future members, trainers, athletes, parents, shift workers, first responders, veterans, and anyone else who may benefit from the facility. Their experiences and recommendations will help shape what Barbell Battalion ultimately becomes.

June 21, 2026, will always represent the day we took one of our first major steps.

Today, Barbell Battalion officially exists.

Now the work begins.
